Empty Stage

Written by: Shruthi Sudheendra

My heart is an empty stage.

The brightness of the sun sweeps me off my feet,

And it melts the winter’s frost strained grip around my chest,

And it provides the fuel for my heart to bloom into a rose.

By chance? By choice? By nature? By force?

Thou entered my life to grow back the roots of laughter,

Thou flashed light on the shadows.

My soul is radiating thou’s warmth.

One day, when the curtains of shadows and death overtake me,

I shall know thou shall not fade,

Nor shall my stage remain empty,

Nor shall my rose erase,

Our stems are entangled.

Because, I am thou’s rose that has permanently been planted into your soil;
